Stay Safe

In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

Ride the classic 40-Mile Loop as a series of three bike rides, one a week for three weeks during Pedalpalooza. Come on one ride or do all three for the complete loop! This version of the loop is really 51 miles long, as the route has evolved from its original naming over 100 years ago. Each of the three segments is 16 to 18 miles in length, and the segments start and end at MAX stations to eliminate the need to ride to/from the start/end. Following creeks and rivers for most of its length, the loop is flat with no uphill sections.
This 3rd ride starts at the Cascades MAX Red Line station and follows dedicated bikeways through PDX and along the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.

Ride #1 is on June 9, and Ride #2 is on June 16
