Camas Castle Ride (Portland)
July 1, 2017 at 10:00 am
In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

Pedalpalooza may be over, but the bike riding goes on! This 33-mile loop ride takes you from the Portland IKEA store over the I-205 Bridge to the castle in Camas, Washington. Yes there is a private residence in Camas that looks just like a medieval castle, complete with drawbridge and keep. It is not open to the public, so we will only be looking at the outside. Another highlight of the ride is the Lacamas Heritage Trail, which is a hard-packed 4-mile gravel trail for bikes and pedestrians along the shore of Lacamas Lake. Another section of trail goes through Lacamas Park with a bridge spanning the middle of Lower Falls. On the way back we’ll ride through quaint downtown Camas and a fish hatchery.
