DOD New Year’s Hangover Ride (Florence)
January 1, 2016 from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

Drive five miles north of Florence. Just past the C & M Stables turn right onto Herman Peak Road. Go about 3 miles up—the road turns to gravel at some point—and look for the trailhead on your left. It’s an annual tradition … ride off your New Year’s Eve hangover with the Disciples of Dirt!
DOD’s Hangover Ride is a fun, socially-paced ride with a bunch of folks harboring various degrees of regret for how hard and how late they celebrated the night before.
The ride location will be the Cape Mountain Trails just north of Florence. This is a really fun trail system to ride—climbing, descending and traversing through dense coastal forest with stunning views of the ocean. It can be freezing and foggy in Eugene but 45 to 55 degrees out on the coast. We did this ride the last couple of years and had a blast. Read about last year’s ride here.
Shake off the cobwebs of the old year and ring in the new year in the best way possible … on your bike!
Meet: We’ll meet at the Target on West 11th in Eugene at 10:00 am to carpool and should be at the trailhead by 11:30 or so.
