DOD Trail Work: Lawler Extension (Oakridge)
February 18, 2017 from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

IT AIN’T OVER ‘TIL IT’S OVER!
Please come on out and help DOD put the final finishing touches on the Lawler Extension so we can open this thing up and ride it! Along with expected clean-up from the storms, we’ll have lots of jobs for all skill levels—whether you are a seasoned pro or a newbie to trail work. There is a fair amount of benching as well as a couple of fun, fast corners that still need finessing. The “Skye Box” needs an exit ramp and we’ll need to haul some rocks up from the creek for that. And after all of the rain this winter, we’ll be able to see where the water does and doesn’t move off the trail so we can work on drainage and grade reversals, too.
This project has been years in the works … from dreaming, discussing, planning, and inspecting to finally, last summer, putting our shovels and hoes to the dirt. Around fifteen hundred hours have gone into the actual build. It’s an incredible addition to an already amazing trail and you’ll want to be able to say you were a part of it. So join us Saturday, February 18 and … let’s wrap it up!
Meet at the usual spot on Patterson Mountain Road at the first intersection which leads to Duval Creek. After the trailwork we’ll have ourselves a little party to celebrate not only the completion of the trail, but also the birthdays of some of our favorite DOD’ers: Derrick, Lee, and Maria. Food will be provided by Tacovore, and we’ll have beer and maybe even cake! Hope to see you there!
IMPORTANT: Please wear appropriate clothing on trail work days to include a hard hat,* long sleeve shirt, pants, gloves, sturdy boots and eye protection.
*DOD has hard hats to loan out and we’ll arm you with a tool from our tool trailer if you don’t have your own.
