Century Prep Series: Crooked River Gorge Out and Back (Prineville)
July 1, 2016 at 9:00 am
In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

When: Friday, July 1st, rolling promptly at 9:00AM.
Where: Meet at Pioneer Park located at the corner of 3rd and Elm Street in Prineville. The park has restrooms.
Ride Details: A very scenic, meandering ride along the Crooked River with little traffic. The route follows the Crooked River for nearly all of the ride. The ride climbs very gradually until you reach the dam. Just before the dam you will climb 200 ft up to the dam. We will cross the dam and go just a bit further south and turn into the boat launch area on your left. You will find bathrooms here as well. The ride has no water refills. This ride is approximately 40 miles with an elevation gain of 1500′. You can see the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14553691.
This ride is for intermediate or better riders. The rider should be comfortable with moderate distances with increased elevation gain and loss. ALL of our rides are ‘no-drop’ rides and the Bellas are committed to helping one another improve our riding skills. In consideration of other riders, however, we do ask that you choose an ability level that is close to your skills. If you are building a particular skill, please let the ride leader know.
