The Monster Cookie Metric Century Bicycle Ride is the Salem Bicycle Club’s premier spring event. The ride is normally scheduled for the last Sunday in April. However, in 2011, it will be on May 1 to avoid conflicting with Easter. The ride starts at the State Capitol Mall in Salem and takes riders over back roads to Champoeg State Park and back to Salem. The ride is open to all bicyclists who agree to share the road with other users by riding safely, lawfully and courteously. The continuous use of an ANSI or SNELL approved helmet is required.

The route is generally flat with a few short hills. The map and elevation profile of the route offer a preview of the ride. Snacks, fruit, refreshments and toilet facilities are available at a rest stop and at Champoeg State Park. The route will close at 4:00 p.m. Participants should pace themselves so that they can complete the ride by that time.

The first Monster Cookie Metric Century was held in 1977. 2,130 cyclists participated in the 34th annual Monster Cookie Metric Century held on April 25, 2010.
