NWTA Ride – Black Friday Gravel Grinder (Gaston)
November 25, 2016 at 9:30 am
In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

Opt Outside this Black Friday and ride with us, rain or shine! We are planning a 2 to 3 hour bike ride around Gaston, OR on 11/25, starting at 9:30 AM. We will sign up and start riding around 10 AM. This is a no-drop ride, but it does have a bit of climbing. It will be easy to turn around for the first 1/3 of the ride, and coast back to town. After a loop around Gaston, if everybody is having a great time, we will visit the Infamous Lee Falls. This ride may only take a couple of hours, or it may take a bit longer. There shouldn’t be many cars, and it’s 90% gravel. (And Lee Falls is cool, if we make it there.)
The ride will be between 2 and 3 hours, depending on weather, choices, and attendees.
What to Bring:
Be sure to bring normal cycling clothes. If it’s raining, have a rain coat and pants, if you have them. The ride will be shorter if it rains, but we will still be outside! Bring water and a snack for yourself. We will supply coffee before the ride from our sponsor, Scoggins Creek Coffee. (Be sure to say Thank You to them!)
Where to Meet:
We will be meeting in the Softball field parking lot, just east of Highway 47 in Gaston, OR.
You can bring a Cyclocross Bike, a Mountain Bike, a Single Speed Bike, or even an adventure bike. Just bring a bike that can ride on gravel and pavement.
We will not have a sag wagon, and we will mostly be on open though seldom-used roads. But if your bike breaks down we will figure out a way to get you back to Gaston.
