PWTC Shute Park to Banks (Hillsboro)
September 5, 2016 at 10:00 am
In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

Portland Wheelmen Touring Club will meet at Shute Park at SE 8th & Maple in Hillsboro with parking behind the Senior Center. Directions to start: Expect 12-15 minutes drive from Highway 26 and Cornelius Pass. Head south on Cornelius Pass Road from Highway 26 (0.9 mi.) Turn right on NE Cornell Road (4.1 mi.) Turn right on E. Main Street (0.3 mi.) Turn left on 7th Avenue (0.5 mi.) Turn left on Maple (500 feet) The destination is the Subway in Banks. Distance is 38 miles. Most of this ride is on flat rural roads and traffic is very low. Re-group ride with an average of 16-18 mph.
Ride pace details: Some of the riders may ride faster than the above mentioned pace but we will happily regroup every 5 miles for anyone who can ride 16 mph on the flat. If you ride slower you are very welcome to attend but may want to print a cue sheet if you do not know the route.
Cancellations: If the ride needs to be cancelled for any reason I will post a message on the PWTC Forum “Current Ride Info” page before 6PM the previous evening.
