PWTC Two View Urban Ride (Portland; every Monday)
November 7, 2016 at 12:00 pm
In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

Keep your summer fitness intact by doing some easy hill climbing with Portland Wheelmen Touring Club. And enjoy a coffee break in the Northwest District along with stops at two viewpoints.
Attractions: Traffic is generally quite low considering it is an urban ride and despite the turns there are relatively few stops signs or signals. Riding in the hills offers protection from the wind. Beautiful panoramic views. This ride starts at Ridgewood Park near 217 and Hwy 26 and climbs gradually up the Highway 26 Bike Path to Sylvan and then continues mostly flat to Fairmont Blvd. The route then drops down near the Chart House on Terwilliger Blvd. and climbs up Westwood Drive to the top of Council Crest, considered by some to be the highest point in Portland. After a brief break to take in the view, the route drops down into the Northwest District and then up to Pittock Mansion for another view, then on to Washington Park Zoo and back to Sylvan before returning to Ridgewood Park on the Highway 26 Bike Path. Regroup Ride. Distance: 20.2 miles. Elevation: 2287 feet. Medium paced re-group ride. You can view the route on Google maps using this link: https://goo.gl/maps/p79MmpnqSQD2
Cancellations: If the ride needs to be cancelled for any reason I will post a message on the PWTC Forum “Current Ride Info” page before 6 p.m. the previous evening. Ride Leader: Jeremy Wilson, 503-432-0050
