PWTC Two View Urban Ride (Portland)
December 21, 2015 at 10:00 am
In Oregon, a bicycle is legally considered a vehicle, and the same Oregon road laws apply. Please “be seen” and practice safe riding. Vehicle traffic, farm equipment and narrow shoulders exist on many Oregon roads, and you may find that construction projects, traffic or other events may cause road conditions or signage to differ from the map results, ride descriptions and directions. For travel options plus weather and road conditions, visit tripcheck.com, call 511 (in Oregon only), 800.977.6368 or 503.588.2941. Routes listed on this website are for informational purposes and intended as a reference guide only.

Keep your summer fitness intact by doing some easy hill climbing, and enjoy a coffee break in the Northwest District along with stops at two viewpoints.
This ride starts at Ridgewood Park near 217 and Hwy 26 and climbs gradually up the Highway 26 Bike Path to Sylvan and then continues mostly flat to Fairmont Blvd. The route then drops down to the Chart House on Terwilliger Blvd. and then climbs up Westwood Drive to the top of Council Crest, considered by some to be the highest point in Portland. After a brief break to take in the view, the route drops down into the Northwest District and then up to Pittock Mansion for another view, then on to Washington Park Zoo and back to Sylvan before returning to the DMV on the Highway 26 Bike Path.
Traffic is generally quite low considering it is an urban ride and despite all the twists and turns there are relatively few stops.

Medium paced re-group ride.
Cancellations: If the ride needs to be cancelled for any reason I will post a message on the PWTC Forum “Current Ride Info” page before 6 p.m. the previous evening.
