Tuesday Night Classic (Portland; every Tuesday)

This Portland Wheelmen Touring Club ride leaves at 6 p.m. from Wilshire Park, Northeast 36th and Skidmore. This mostly flat, 25-mile course skirts clockwise around the perimeter of North Portland and is ideal training for setting a personal time record on your next century, etc. Major sections of the route are Ainsworth, Willamette Boulevard, Lombard, Marine Drive, the Expo Center and back to Marine Drive, with the return to the park via 33rd and 37th, usually before 8 p.m. Three overpasses and a couple of shallow climbs give this ride a C rating on the terrain scale. The front group averages 20-26 m.p.h. and we regroup at five points along the way. If you are new to the route or to the group, please tell the Ride Leader at the ride start. No rider gets left behind. A front and a rear light are required at night.
