This is a fun ride through Yamhill County’s vineyards and has some of my favorite routes in it. There is a 35-mile course, a metric century, and a challenging full century over Eola Crest. The event starts at Newberg High School just behind the McDonald’s.

The metric century was my first event ride, and a week later I did the full century just for fun. Either is a lot of fun. McLaughin Pass is an easy climb with a real nice ride down the other side; the scenery is fantastic on this road.

The century ride’s signature feature is a climb over Eola Crest. But before you start that part of the climbing the route following the foothills of the mountain offers fairly challenging rollers. One long climb to get over the and crest then it’s downhill and flat to Amity. Eola Crest’s climb begins steep with about a 15-18% grade only about a 1/4 mile long or so, then it’s just a steady 2-3 miles to the top. Great rides on both routes. Have fun!
