People’s Coast Classic: Coming Up!
The 2nd Annual Amgen People’s Coast Classic event starts September 11 – just days away.
Organizers of the ride are providing weekly updates for all participants, including an introduction video and a comprehensive video outlining Day 2 of the ride. Last-minute registrations will be accepted. Follow the event on Facebook.
The tour, which benefits the Seattle-based Pacific Northwest Chapter of The Arthritis Foundation, is slated to start at the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria at 9 a.m. on Sunday, September 11, and will follow the official Oregon Coast Cycling Route for six days, ending in Brookings on Friday, September 16, 2011. The 2011 ride will also include two-day and four-day options for those wishing to participate in just a portion of the ride.
For a fundraising commitment of $2,500 per person, or $10,000 for a team of five, riders will receive round-trip transportation to and from the ride to Portland; hot breakfasts, five gourmet dinners, full mechanical support en route, support vehicle services, baggage transport, accommodation arrangements and more.
The 2011 People’s Coast Classic will be designed around an exciting stay in Newport, including a visit to Rogue Ales, the opportunity to ride the route with John Maier, Brewmaster at Rogue Ales, a fish fry and party on the beach in Newport, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sleep with the sharks at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The event also offers the opportunity for riders to order a brand new Co-Motion Bicycle at a preferred price and have it delivered to the starting line in Astoria, complete with a professional bike fitting.
