Directions

If you are headed west on Hwy 30 to the coast, the detour starts just west of Delena, Oregon. If you are headed east on 30 toward Longview, Washington or Portland, Oregon the detour starts in Clatskanie. Just turn left onto N. Nehalem at the light.

What I love about this ride

This route is a detour for those who want off Hwy 30 for a bit on the way to or from the coast. It is one of the last remaining sections of the Old Columbia River Hwy and has 5 originally restored old bridges and two beautiful waterfalls. Its one of those untold secrets of Columbia County. Riders are relieved to get away from the truck traffic and astounded at the beauty of the back roads of Clatskanie. I have directed a lot of the riders that have stayed at my Bike Inn in Clatskanie and they were very thankful for the suggestion. This would be a good suggestion for all riders riding on Hwy 30 west of Portland. Beautiful.
