Directions
Starting from downtown Manzanita, cycle southeast on Highway 101 for 3 miles to Nehalem. Turn left at the stop sign onto 7th street, which turns into North Fork Road. Ride toward the northeast to the bridge over the Nehalem River. Continue on to a T-intersection with Highway 53. Turn right and cycle back southwest to a T-intersection with Highway 101. Turn right (northwest) back toward Nehalem and on to Manzanita.
What I love about this ride
This is a beautiful pastoral ride around the Nehalem Valley with numerous views of the mountains, farms, dairy cattle and river. It is moderately easy, a manageable 20 miles long, and relatively free of the heavy coast traffic.
Traffic: Low on North Fork Road and Highway 53; can be busy on Highway 101, but good shoulders.
