    The short version of the Oregon Trail/Foster Farm route traces country roads along historic trails, including a backroad route along sections of the Oregon Trail. This is a nice country ride, with great views and interesting history. Follow roads where oxen teams once pulled wagons to the European settlers’ final destinations.

    Start/finish: Estacada’s Park and Ride lot at 5th & Currin in Estacada. Parking is free, and the lot is often monitored. Alternate parking at the new Estacada Library, 825 NW Wade St.

    Take 5th Avenue to Main and turn right from Park & Ride lot at 5th & Currin.

    Follow Main St to Junior High; turn left, following the road until it becomes Eagle Creek Highway (1 mile).

    2.0 Miles, Currinsville Store and BBQ Pit. See historic marker across the road from the store re: Currin family.

    5.7 Miles, 1845 Philip Foster Farm: National Historic Site with home, store and displays of particular interest. Turn left onto Highway 211 and cross Highway 224 turning right onto Dowty Road. Stay on Dowty Road, but the descent to Eagle Creek is rapid with sharp corners and a narrow road.

    7.6 Miles, Bonnie Lure Park. Wagon trains followed Eagle Creek here and crossed the Clackamas near Eagle Creek’s mouth. The ascent out of the park is steep but short. See Eagle Creek Golf Course on right.

    9.0 Miles, Turn right onto Folsom Road and left onto Samuels Road and left again onto Heiple Road. Look for the skydiving airport on the right. Follow Heiple across Highway 224 all the way back to Eagle Creek Highway. Turn right on Eagle Creek Highway and return to the parking area.
