This ride can be moderate or challenging, dependent on whether you’re a frequent cyclist. Either way it’s fantastic. Start and end at Lewis and Clark State Park just off I-84. The Historic Columbia Highway up to the Women’s Forum, down to Crown Point and the Vista House, and then down down down to Multnomah Falls. Out and back, a nine-mile gradual climbs on the way out, steep climb of just over two miles on the way back. Courteous drivers mostly, shady and lovely. Take the Bell Road cutoff on your way back and you can fly down the hill!
You pass four of five falls, you get great views of the gorge, the down hills are exhilarating. I wouldn’t do this ride when it’s wet, but otherwise it’s a favorite.
Motorized Vehicle Traffic: Very light on weekend mornings, increasing throughout the day. Lots of tourists in cars.
Seasons: All, except during winter storms in the Gorge.

if you only had one day in Portland to do a ride, this could well be it.
