This is one of the first REAL mountain bike rides I did when I started riding and I guess that’s why it never gets old. River crossings on cool bridges, rocky climbs and rocky descents. I love it all.

Spring, summer and fall are the best times to ride this trail, though I’ve done many a winter ride here. Just depends on the winter and if there are a lot of trees down.

A couple of technical sections, a few climbs and a few descents. Nothing over the top, but fun nonetheless.

From Portland follow Highway 26 west to the split with Highway 6. Travel on Highway 6 to the summit of the Coast Range, just west of milepost 33, watching for signs to Rogers Camp. Turn south on Beaver Dam Road and proceed 250 feet to a “T” junction. Turn left for 0.1 mile to the trailhead. This trailhead is a staging area for both motorized groups and non-motorized groups.

Seasons: Spring – Fall

  1. I’ve been hooked on this loop ever since going on a group ride here. What I enjoy about it is the good variety of trail that makes up the loop.

  2. My favorite time to ride this is weekday evenings right after work. And no matter how many times i ride this trail….I still have a great time.

On the weekend, I suggest adding Gales Creek or Storeyburn to the Browns Camp loop for a longer ride.

  3. Sure searched for the way to good local Mac trails two years ago, I just wouldn’t believe no one could point me… I rode into the hills, upper/lower valley and even up & over toward Beaver/Nestucca via cross bike. Rode some great rides though, both on-off road.. lucky dogs, ride-onward!
