Henry Hagg Lake Trail – Loop

  • Length:
    14.5 miles
  • Difficulty:
    Moderate
  • Attributes:
    Hilly, Moderately Technical, Single-Track
  • Region:
    Greater Portland
  • Nearby Cities:
Hillsboro, Forest Grove, Gaston, Gales Creek

Trailhead: 28 miles west of Portland. From Hwy. 26, follow Hwy. 47 south through Forest Grove to Scoggins Valley Road and signs for Hagg Lake on the right. Proceed past the fee booth and up the hill to the county park and the parking lot there.

Highlights: Great single-track close to town. Rolling terrain with some technical sections and short, steep climbs through forests and meadows.

Note: You can easily, bail out to the paved road circling the lake.  This ride is much more difficult when muddy and not recommended.  Many lesser single-tracks intersect the main trail heading down to the lake and up to the road.  Expect to pay a $3 park entry fee.

Seasons: Spring, summer, fall.

A detailed map of this trail and others nearby is available through Adventure Maps, an Oregon company, at local bike shops and outdoor retailers, as well as online at www.adventuremaps.net.

  1. This is harder than it would first appear! Total of 1500′ of climbing, but in short, steep bursts with little run at em’. Definitely gets the heart rate up!

  2. $5 park fee is what I’ve been getting charged.

  3. Fun rolling trail. $5 park fee. 10/15/2009. Bridg out section between the dam and boat ramp C is passable.
