Trailhead: Head 35 miles southwest of Bend on Hwy 97 and then Highway 40 to the Cascade Lakes Highway (Hwy. 46). Go left (south) for 1 mile to the Cultus Lake access road. After about 1 mile take gravel road 4630 on the left to Little Cultus Lake, arrive at the lake after another 2.4 miles and proceed around the south end of the lake to the boat ramp. (1 hour from Bend.)

Highlights: A great combination of fast double-track and rolling single-track. A good portion of the route leads through an area which burned in a 1996 forest fire. Along the way, look for the forest re-generating.

Seasons: Summer and fall

  1. A good ride. There were a lot of trees blocking the a portion of the trail in Sept 2011, but still worthwhile. Finished along a moonscape in HOT weather. The ride can also be found here (21 miles in total)
