The Barlow Road

Trailhead: Turn south off of Hwy 35 at Barlow Pass onto FS 3530 about 36 miles south of Hood River (60 miles east of Portland). Proceed about 300’ to a large parking area.

Highlights: Riding the Barlow Road, expect plenty of fun double-track descending, some tough climbs and lots of history as you follow the original overland route of the Oregon Trail. You can do this as an out-and-back, or shuttle/loop via paved FS Road 48.

Seasons: Early summer through fall
