  • Region:
    Mt. Hood / The Gorge

Trailhead: From downtown Hood River, go west on Oak St. to 13th St. Go left as 13th turns into 12th St. which then becomes Tucker Road. Follow Tucker to Portland Drive, turn right and follow to the intersection with Country Club Road. Go straight at the intersection as road becomes Binns Hill Road. After 1/4 mile on Binns Hill Road, go left on Kingsley Road and follow this to the Kingsley Campground at Green Point Upper Reservoir.

Highlights: A fun out-and-back ride, the first few miles of which are mellow and wide – but it becomes steeper and more technical after crossing Gate Creek. At Rainy Lake Campground the trail to the lake makes a nice hiking diversion. Also, the views from Waucoma Ridge are amazing. Please note that the “Moderate” rating applies only to the earlier parts of the route (see Note below).

Note: Only some of the roads, and little of the single-track, along this route are marked, so you will need to follow the map carefully and take notice of landmarks.  This trail increases in difficulty as it goes.  If you are getting over your head, turn around, because it doesn’t get easier.

Seasons: Summer through fall
